Local and State Resources

There are numerous organizations in Muncie and in greater Indiana that help, support, and advocate for LGBTQ people. This section organizes local and state resources into sections for ease of use. Please also make sure to check out our specialized sections on legal, medical, and educational help.

Local Crisis Centers

A Better Way provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence, transitional housing, advocacy for victims of sexual assault, a 24-hour crisis line for persons in any type of crisis, AOK afterschool programs, a suicide hotline, bullying, teen dating violence and domestic violence prevention programs, and a check-in call service for elderly or disabled homebound persons.

  • Trans Youth Family Allies (TYFA) is an international resource with local roots in Indianapolis. TYFA “empowers children and families by partnering with educators, service providers and communities, to develop supportive environments in which gender may be expressed and respected.” TYFA is a wonderful resource for parentseducators, and healthcare practitioners looking for support and information.
